Phoenix X-Ray FSE Training: PHX 300kV Maintenance

There are currently no Courses Scheduled for PHX 300kV Maintenance.

Course Description

This course is designed to provide a complete understanding of the attention to detail required to keep the X-Ray system fully functional given to the sensitive nature of the 300kV technology. The course work consists of a series of workshops designed to familiarize the students with the procedures and processes using instructor led demonstrations and in-class hands-on experience. Each workshop takes the students through an established process with step by step instructions and illustrations which are demonstrated by the instructor prior to the students performing the process. This method of instruction allows the students to observe the procedures several times as well as perform the steps themselves.

The lessons begin with an Operational Evaluation of the machine functional condition. A thorough test of each function of the machine is performed. Observation and software monitoring are key elements of this lesson, the students are instructed regarding failure indications and elements of function that could indicate a weakened or unstable condition. Pmectest software is introduced during this lesson as a monitoring software designed specifically for monitoring the functionality of open tube technology. Specific pass/fail conditions for machine operation are outlined in the workshop, each student is expected to list the conditions for a successful operational test.

Maintenance procedures for each section of the machine are provided step by step with illustrations in 3 separate workshops during the class. Each workshop is designed to walk the students through a specific section of the machine followed by a brief test to ensure the procedure was performed correctly.

The HT Chamber of the tube is the first workshop, the tube section is disassembled step by step. Detailed instructions are provided for how each component is to be polished, cleaned, and inspected. Re-assembly instructions are again provided step by step to return the tube to operational status. This procedure is followed by a brief runup of the tube to ensure vacuum and stability of the system have been re-established.

Similar workshops are provided for the tube head and High-Tension sections of the system, each workshop is followed by a system test intended to isolate any problems that are introduced during the PM processes. The final workshop includes a “Final system check” which once again test the functionality and stability of each system function. Specific pass/fail criteria are provided for the students to establish if the machine has been successfully returned to proper function.
